My daughter was selected to be on the model team with other area class of ‘22 high school students. When she first talked about applying, I had a curiosity and a slight skepticism, so I inquired with others, heard fabulous things about Cindy Curtis, and gave my blessing. As a mom, and as a clinical therapist in the psychology field, I can say with confidence that Cindy’s program is truly great.
We are fortunately moving past former --and unrealistic--requirements that our society has had for teens to feel beautiful. We have made progress in defining beauty as inner beauty. The therapist in me understands that teenage girls still need to feel attractive and want to present well. Cindy uses her creativity and her skills to help the girls feel more confident, and then she is able capture in a photo both their inner and outer beauty. When teen girls can see their attractiveness in a photo, their self-image improves. My daughter has an authentic and natural smile. Cindy has captured her genuine smile so many times in the last two years. I believe this has to have helped to increase her general self-confidence. There’s also a remarkable difference in the first photos of these young women (always great pictures, but there’s a hesitancy in some of their smiles) to the later photos when the girls have formed a cohesive group and are genuinely themselves. I have especially loved the team building that Cindy facilitates with the girls -- they do a lot of fun activities and I hear they’ve had many great conversations. I also really like that the girls come from many different school districts! Being a teenager can be hard, having multiple friend groups makes it easier. The senior team was such a positive experience for my daughter. Cindy is available to all of the girls if they need an adult perspective outside of their family or if they just need someone to listen. Our family has had multiple losses this past year and a Cindy was quick to offer her support. Having many great senior photos is really just an added bonus from being part of the senior team…meeting new friends and developing deeper relationships is really the greatest benefit of this group. Cindy is an amazing photographer, she is talented with her photography skills, easy to work with, makes these girls feel so good about themselves, and makes sure they comfortable in their photo shoots. Cindy can say the most beautiful compliments to these girls and the girls just glow and show their real smiles. She loves these girls and is so encouraging with them, and it has been so much fun to see the different shoots, lighting, outfits, poses and everything else. These are real smiles she is bringing out in them; they truly feel comfortable with these shoots. With what I know now about the senior team, I would not hesitate to allow my daughter to be on this team. This is such a great opportunity for these young ladies to be a part of. My daughter clicked really well with the team, friendships have been created, and she has gained more confidence in herself. Not only is Cindy wonderful, but the girls on the team are also so encouraging and supportive of one another. I can’t imagine my daughter not being a part of this team. She will have these memories for life.

When my daughter applied for the senior team my first thought was, Great! her senior pictures are scheduled, and it was one thing I could check off my list for her busy senior year. I had no idea just how much more this team and experience would give her! Cindy is really something special. She becomes a big sister to the girls and knows how to bring out the very best in them and it shows in every picture she takes. In addition to fun and creative locations for their shoots, they have team bonding dinners, sleep overs, bonfires, etc. that has created friendships my daughter may have never made without this team. My experience with Cindy Curtis, as a mother of a daughter who joined the senior team, has been exceptionally positive and rewarding. Not only is Cindy friendly, outgoing, and a pure professional, she is a topnotch photographer with a keen eye for taking absolutely the most beautiful photographs. She is able to capture their beauty, individuality, and their spirit in photographs. As a mom, to have these amazing photographs of my daughter in her senior year of high school is a treasure I will keep for a lifetime, and my daughter having been a part of the Cindy Curtis Senior Team has given her many cherished memories, new friends, and great experiences that my daughter will never forget. Not knowing beforehand what to expect from the program Cindy Curtis offered, I was put at ease immediately after my daughter’s first session with Cindy. My daughter returned home happy, extremely excited, had such enthusiasm for Cindy and the program, and couldn’t wait for the next session. My daughter expressed frequently throughout the year how welcomed she felt after joining the program, how supported she felt from Cindy and the other girls, and she also felt a sense of family and love. Cindy made it fun for the girls with regard to the locations and variety of the outfits, scenery, and themes of the photo shoots – whether it be holiday, seasonal, a sunrise or a sunset. The group would frequently get together simply to enjoy each other’s company, and on one special occasion they had a great time at Cindy’s cottage on the lake! My daughter and I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to join this wonderful program Cindy offers to seniors. We would not exchange this experience for anything. My daughter has made lifelong friends with Cindy and the other girls. I highly recommend this program. You will be amazed at the photographs, and your daughter will love the experiences you will have given her. --K.S.
My daughter had the privilege of being on Cindy Curtis’s Team 23. I can’t say enough about this experience for her. First of all, I’m hoping Cindy will share this since she is so humble…I’m going to gloat about her a bit. Cindy has a beautiful gift! It’s not just the gift of photography, but her fun personality and her encouragement is amazing. She makes the girls feel so beautiful. In a world where everyone is self-conscious, it was this gift of Cindy’s that helped my daughter carry herself with more confidence and self-acceptance. I had the opportunity to go to one of my daughter's individual senior sessions with Cindy. It was so great to see her pose and move like a model, while Cindy was encouraging her from behind the lens.
Also, my daughter had the opportunity to hang out with some of the most amazing girls around Muskegon County. It was so much fun for the girls from different schools to come together, build friendships, hang out at photo sessions, each other’s houses, events and play games. When joining a Cindy Curtis Team, your daughter will gain so much! She will gain a role model (Cindy), friendships, confidence, a bigger wardrobe (let’s be honest- we bought some nicer clothes ) and also have such an amazing time. If your daughter doesn’t join a team, I encourage you to at least have Cindy take senior pictures for her. You will not be disappointed. --K.S. |
